Ann Franklin, a caver of many years standing and one of the discoverers and explorers of Ogof Craig a Ffynnon and Ogof ap Robert, recently opened up her garden to the public as part of the National Garden Scheme Open Day, where Ann raised a fantastic sum of £550 which she is donating to the Team! This is the second year running that Ann has done this and made a donation to the Team and we are extremely grateful to her for her kindness. Below is her email to Claire our Fundraiser.

Good afternoon Claire,

My NGS Open Garden was very successful – despite competition from the Wimbledon Men’s Final, Cricket World Cup and the Grand Prix! We raised an astonishing £550 for SMWCRT through the sale of refreshments and plants. None of this would have been possible without the fantastic team of local ladies who manned the door, provided homemade cakes and teas and sold plants. My local community and shops supported the event by putting up fliers and also giving generous donations. Many members of the caving fraternity attended, including representatives from HCC, SWCC and SMWCRT. It was really good to see so many old friends some of which I hadn’t seen for over 30 years. All of those years slipped away in a heartbeat and we were once again running over the Marble Shower Traverses! Folk travelled from as far away as Bristol and Lampeter to give their support to the event. The day was very enjoyable - more like a Garden Party than an NGS Open Garden.

Kind regards,
